Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I.P.ShamyakinDear friends! Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I.P.Shamyakin is an educational, scientific and cultural centre of Belarusian Polesye. The history of this educational establishment begins with Rogachev Teachers′ Institute. February 23th, 1944 the Board of People′s Commissars of BSSR passed Enactment №57 on the resamption of functioning of the Rogachev Teachers′ Institute in Mozyr. It was known as Mozyr Teachers′ Institute and later on it was reorganized into Mozyr State Pedagogical Institute which was named after N.K. Krupskaya in 1964. Since 2001 a new stage in the development of the educational establishment began. According to the results of the accreditation on the status of a university the institute was reorganized into educational institution "Mozyr State Pedagogical University" which in 2006 was named after I.P. Shamyakin, a well-known Belarusian writer, scientist and public figure. An important national objective of providing educational institutions of Polesye region with qualified staff has always been and remains primary orientation of the University policy. The University comprises 10 faculties. Educational process is carried on by 32 departments where more than 400 teachers work. Post-graduate school and magistracy provide training of qualified staff. The number of students is more than 8 thousand. More than 30 thousand specialists have been trained ever since the educational institution was founded. Modern material and technical basis of the university comprises special classrooms, a number of labs and workshops, equipped with computers and all sorts of audio-visual aids, the University library, sport halls, comfortable dormitories. Our teachers and students are widely-known for their scientific, educational, cultural and sport progress. Our post-graduate student Roman Petrushenko and our student Artur Litvinchuk became champions in the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing. The teaching staff of the University is known for high creative potential, civil and political maturity, which helps to solve the objectives including those of providing the best opportunities for intellectual and spiritual development of young generation.
